61st Anniversary of the Yarmouth Clam Festival

A milestone that reflects six decades of tradition, volunteerism, and community spirit.

What began in 1965 as a local clambake has grown into Maine’s largest free-admission festival, drawing more than 100,000 visitors each year. Behind the scenes, hundreds of volunteers work together to create a weekend full of food, entertainment, and meaningful community impact.

More Than a Festival: Supporting Our Local Non-Profits

Beyond being a weekend of free entertainment, delicious food and fun, the Yarmouth Clam Festival is a major driver of economic community support, as more than 30 local nonprofits rely on festival proceeds to sustain their programming.

Yarmouth boosters use festival funds to make participation more accessible for families, covering the costs for ice time, equipment, uniforms, instruments, and much more. Organizations like Downeasters Barbershop Chorus and Yarmouth Lions provide financial assistance to dozens of local organizations, groups, and neighbors in need. In 2024, First Parish Church reinvested $47,000 their festival earnings back into the community through their Community Grant program, funding a wide range initiatives for 23 organizations.

What’s New: Entertainment, Family Programming & Sustainability

In 2025, we celebrated our 60th anniversary by adding new entertainment, partnerships and activities, while honoring our long standing traditions.  In addition, we took important major steps steps to increase our commitment to sustainability by diverting 77% of our waste with an increased focus on composting and recycling.   In addition, we continued to expand on our free family programming.

For 2026, we’re building on that progress with more inclusive programming, new entertainment, and an even stronger commitment to sustainability and waste reduction

Why Your Support Matters

Unlike many large events, the Yarmouth Clam Festival receives no public grants or charitable donations. It is organized by the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, and funded through sponsorships, vendor and crafter fees. With rising operational costs, your support plays a direct role in making this beloved festival possible.
